It’s coming on three years since Cisco Live has been in person (2020 and 2021 were both remote only events). But Cisco Live US 2022 is looking like it will be in person again. So, if you fancy a trip to Las Vegas in June, read on!

I’ve gotten a hold of the (subject to change) plans for the virtual event for CiscoLive 2020 … and of course, there’s no way I could keep it to myself. Here’s what’s planned at this point.

Thanks, COVID-19. Since we’re all attempting to avoid getting it as long as possible (so that the health system can better manage us over the long term rather than get overloaded by us all at once), Cisco Live 2020 is becoming a free, two day, online only event.

One of the things I look forward to every year, and it’s still on at this point. Cisco Live will be in Las Vegas Sunday, May 31 – Thursday, June 4, 2020. Already registered! Gotta find my kilt …

I’m going to try my hand at teaching some basics of networking – nothing too horribly in depth, but some of the foundational things that people new to the ins and outs of networking might need to know in order to really learn how to do networking and network troubleshooting.

It’s that time again! The US edition of Cisco Live 2019 is in San Diego this year, and I’ll be there. Here’s the first little tidbit of information I’ve been dropped: Big Ideas speakers, Tweetup dates/times, photos, and social impact opportunities!

I failed (twice) to recertify my CCNP, meaning I have to start all the way back at the CCNA. This is my plan.

So my source at Cisco Live 2018 (who I think we all dearly love but also still are quite scared of) has sent me some more information.  It’s a veritable cornucopia of information, including tidbits about the the Customer Appreciation Event (CAE) bands (yes, plural), Cisco Store, Social Media Hub (including important times to be around), and even more about the Social Responsibility Opportunities.  So, in order of importance to me (interspersed with what people have actually been asking me about), here’s the new info!

So yes – spending a lot of time with the new load balancers and finding out all sorts of things about their operation I didn’t know about, that (at least in this case) were fairly easy to fix.

The thing is carrying actual, important, production traffic now.  Most if it is short lived web-based stuff; short enough that the transfer completes well before a failed session establishment on the firewall is noticed.  But someone was noticing, and it took me doing many packet captures to figure out exactly what was going wrong (and realize it was actually my fault).
