Eric Stewart: Running Off At The Mouth

XUbuntu notes

by Eric Stewart on Oct.11, 2012, under Computers, Technology

Why did I make the change?  I was having problems with stock (namely, hibernate on the laptop), and I had been using XFCE4 on stock for a while.  Turns out Xubuntu uses XFCE4 as the default, and many of the packages for XFCE4 are actually xubuntu packages.  So, without further ado, in no particular order:

  • Script directory for suspend/hibernate/wake: /etc/pm/sleep.d/
  • Other directories/files of note: /etc/init/ and /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
  • xfce-dusk is available at http://xfce-look.org/content/show.php?content=141404 and goes in ~/.themes/
  • You’ll need Dropbox, Synergy, and Chrome packages.
  • You’ll need “apt-get install tcsh openssh-server vim”
  • Create: /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla
    [Re-enable hibernate by default]
    Identity=unix-user:*
    Action=org.freedesktop.upower.hibernate
    ResultActive=yes
  • You’ll want to look for “MiscDefaultGeometry” in “.config/Terminal/terminalrc”
